This Week's Artistic Endeavors
I am drawing Luca! I was inspired by one of my students who decided to start a portrait drawing last week. I am using this drawing of Luca as my technique demo with her! I will share my final piece when I finish.
When Luca was a few months old I drew a portrait of him. I am excited to compare the similarities and differences of the two drawings when I finish this one!
Latest Work - Hollow Formed Clay Cat
UTK "Artcation" is an event hosted by TAEA for art educators in our region. It is a half-day workshop in UT's Art and Architecture building where we get to explore art-making and create works that we can take back to our classrooms and implement or modify into lessons with our students! It is a great hands-on learning opportunity for art teachers!
Check out my paper form, hollow, hand-built cat! This piece of art will be fired in my (soon coming!!) kiln at school, but there are options for working with clay that do not require a kiln and are still amazingly awesome!
Crayola, air dry clay is an amazing alternative for hand-building with clay! It is also super economical. I shared a video on how to create your own hollow build air-dry clay animal!
Personally Speaking... wedding szn
Wedding season is about to be in full swing! in 2024 I dove head first into live wedding painting. To say I love it is an understatement. Being in the wedding industry has been so much fun to me. I love being able to interact with the guests and see their reactions as the painting comes to life!
I have two weddings before the end of the month and can't wait to share a bit about the events!
I offer two types of live painting. Both are so fun, yet totally different! I can live paint the bride and groom at the venue on a large canvas. This is so sweet to me because it becomes a family heirloom, hung on the walls of their home for years to come. I also paint live watercolor guest portraits! This one is so fun because it allows every guest to take home a custom piece of art as their wedding favor!
Artists Supporting Artists - The Creative Cat Co.
I can't even begin to explain how much The Creative Cat Co. inspires me! Not only does she hand embroider the CUTEST apparel and goodies, but she also inspires such a creative life!
The artist behind is small art business is Catey Laura, an East TN native and lover of all things local and handmade. She also just exudes the epitome of leading a joy filled life and that in and of itself is so inspiring to me as an artist and a human.
The Creative Cat Co. is a Tennessee local business who offers her products via Instagram drops and stories so you HAVE to give her a follow! I linked her Instagram @thecreativecatco_ to the button below, so click and order all your hand embroidered products from her!
Be Your Most Creative Self
The DIY charm necklace/bracelet was super fun. Doing crafts like this may not seem like "being creative" but I encourage you to shift your mindset. I believe that doing anything that allows you to express yourself, think about who you are and the things that inspire you - in this case your charm selection - and make something new that tells the story of you IS being creative. There are so many ways to add creativity into your life other than painting, drawing, sculpting, etc.!
I linked supply options this activity below because it is actually a lot cheaper to get all the materials than you might think. This could be something you do for a GNO with friends, or a small group activity, actually also a fun birthday party idea.
