This Week's Artistic Endeavors - Live Painting

Kicking off spring wedding season in Johnson City, TN at the Waterstone Venue. The property was insanely beautiful and we could not have asked for better March weather.
This couple asked for their painting to show their dip, walking back down the aisle after the ceremony. I love a good dip & kiss pose, so I was super excited they chose this for their piece.
The venue has an amazing landscape, so painting the ceremony backdrop was perfect to capture the aesthetic of the scenery.
Check out more details from the day below!
Latest Work - Watercolor Pet Portrait

Pet portraits are one of my favorite commissions that I offer. Painting their little personalities to life brings me so much joy!
I always offer pet portraits, people portraits, and house portraits, so you can order these at anytime throughout the year on my website!
The pup shown here is Bruno. I was able to paint this as a memory of his life for a special family. I picture him here as outside in the sun, relaxing, happy, after a long play. There is calmness in his eyes, too. As cringy as it sounds, it is a little bit like getting to know the pets as I bring them to life through the painting.
If you have ever had a pet portrait painted by me, I would LOVE to see its forever spot in your home! Tag me in your photos on IG at @jordanabbaart
Personally Speaking... LTK

Follow me on LTK! I am influencing you! JK.
My goals as an artist and presenter of this newsletter blog is to encourage you all to cultivate a creative lifestyle, to thrive, and become curious about trying new things.
This mindset resonates as true here as it does in my art classroom. Teaching students, people, to find their creative niche (which can be overtly artistic - or not) so to thrive and find joy in the little things of life.
I find myself tagging a lot of products and items when I am sharing, so I thought to apply for a LTK shop to house all my favorite products and showcase them there. Follow me on the app and save your favorite ideas that I post!

Stephanie Wilson Creative

I met Stephanie this past weekend at the wedding we were both vendors at!
She is a Knoxville, TN based photographer. I love her style of photography. It is the perfect mix of moody, charming, and artsy.
I also loved how genuine she is! She was easy to talk to and communicate with and I feel like I left the wedding with a new friend. I love being able to connect with other vendors in that way to help make the big day go smoothly and happily.
Check out Stephanie's website for galleries and more info about booking. And of course, give her a follow on socials! I linked her website and IG account below.
Be Your Most Creative Self

If you haven't already gotten into weaving, this is your sign to start! All you need is the back of a cereal box, some yarn, scissors, and your hands.
You can buy yarn from almost anywhere, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, etc., they also sell weaving needles if you don't want to use your fingers, but honestly, I just use my hands and have no problems. For the hanging piece, I take a nature walk and collect nice looking sticks, which is really therapeutic in and of itself.
Something I enjoy about weaving is that it is methodical and mindless. If you can follow a pattern of "over, under, over, under" then you can weave!
There are a lot of different weaving stitches that will add texture and interest to your piece. Some of those include a braid stitch, fringe, pom pots, and twists!
I have linked a basic step-by-step to weaving video below to get you started! It shows how to string your cardboard loom and how to do some of the different stitches. These are just a few demo videos I like to use in my classroom when teaching this process to my students, but there are so many demos and step-by-steps out there. Search "step-by-step yarn weaving on a cardboard loom" in Google and Youtube, and you will find thousands of videos to guide you!
